Local Commuting

Bus Schedules | Bicycling | Taxis | Car Pooling

Local Commuting ImageMany emancipated youth who are looking for a way to save money can look at local commuting options in their area. There are many advantages to using public transportation:

  1. Avoid the need to purchase a car on a tight budget.
  2. Many local communiting alternatives are either very low-cost or free.
  3. Commuting helps keep greenhouse gas emissions and smog-causing particulates down.
  4. Bicycling provides a good form of exercise.

Cost Advantages to Commuting
If you compare the rising cost of gas, parking and auto maintenance to the cost of a local commuting alternative, you’ll find that commuting is usually a more economical choice. If you use the bus, bicycle, or carpooling as your primary local commuting choice, you save money that you would have spent on car payments, gasoline, insurance and repairs.

Environmental Advantages to Commuting
Consider how many vehicles you see inhabited by one or two people. Everyone who is driving their own vehicle is causing some individual pollution which directly effects our environment in the form of pollution. Many local commuting alternatives do not emit the same amount of pollution as driving your own vehicle.
